David Zelman has been creating objects that function as furniture for
the past 20 years. His work can be found in the permanent collections
of the Brooklyn, Kohler, Yale and Cooper Hewitt Museums. In addition,
he founded and designed objects for Prologue 2000, Inc. a manufacturing
and design firm.  In his sculptural work he attempts to pay homage to
the work of man, therefore his images of bridges, scaffolding,
elevators, wheeled objects, and the like call attention to these often
overlooked basics of our existence.\

In his design work at Prologue 2000, Inc., Mr. Zelman created a unique
line of high end contemporary table top products.  Like his sculptural
work Mr. Zelman translates industrial images into beautifully formed
objects.  The candleholder " Cloud 9" is in the permanent collection of
the Brooklyn Museum of Art, and his "Aurora" bowl is in the collection
of the Cooper Hewitt Museum.   In addition to quality craftsmanship,
one criteria that Mr. Zelman used in determining products for
production was "whether the object could be used to create another
object."  "Aurora" when seen in a drawing looking straight down upon it
became our mirror frame, and was inspired by a water tower.
"Rectangular" candleholder is a men's pin, and like most of the other
candleholders, the height of the candleholder is adjustable.  Like an
elevator moving up and down the outside of a large building under
construction.
